  • Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) - FEMA is an independent agency of the United States federal government, reporting to the President. • A Child is Missing (ACIM) - ACIM, a Fort Lauderdale-based non-profit organization founded in 1996, was created because no community-based program existed for locating missing children, the disabled and elderly during the crucial first hours of disappearance. Activated only by law enforcement, the ACIM program now serves the entire states of Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Alaska, Nevada, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, West Virginia, and portions of California, Colorado, and Kentucky. As federal, state or private funding becomes available, the ACIM program can be given to law enforcement anywhere across the nation.
