"Set of Irons" - Traditional Tools of the Fire Service

The most basic of hand tools in the fire service and the most well known. This set of tools called a "set of irons" or a "married" couple becuase of their set-up and conisits of  a flat head axe and haligen bar used for forcible entry, turning off a gas meter to performing ventillation on a burning structure. 

This set of tools has many uses and is usually always carried by a firefighting team while on an emergency scene.  

A.E.D. - Automated External Defibrillator

Defibrillators have bcome a common tool on emergency vehicles and they are not just located on ambulances anymore. This life saving tool is located on our apparatus as well as other emergency vehciels, such as police cars, because of their success in saving so many lives should a person go into cardiac arrest.
